Crush Injuries / Multi-fragmented Fractures
Damaged Blood Vessels and Tissue are no longer supplied sufficiently
With serious accidents, frequently as a consequence of complex bone breakages, the destruction of large parts of the muscle and tissue can occur. In such cases, the supplying blood vessels (arteries) and removing vessels (veins) are also affected. The absent supply of nutrients and oxygen results in insufficient supply to the area of the wound. Haematomas and tissue swellings impair the supply even more.
Regarding comminuted fractures and crush injuries: Consequences of an Accident are healed with Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBOT)
Thanks to the HBO therapy and its astringent effect on the veins (vasoconstriction), a clear reduction to the tissue swelling occurs. The strongly increased oxygen level means insufficiently supplied parts of wounds are also supplied, even without a completely intact system of blood vessels, securing survival. The decline of tissue (necrosis) occurs considerably less often and it is possible that amputations can be avoided.
HBOT Application in Close Cooperation with the Surgeon for treatment of crush injuries and comminuted fractures
Together with the physician, the HBO specialist will prepare a treatment programme accounting for your complaints. Allow yourself to receive advice from our doctors who will tell you about the benefits of HBOT.
