Retinitis pigmentosa

DruckenE-Mail

Retinitis pigmentosa is a retinal degeneration emerging through heredity or spontaneously, in which the photoreceptors are destroyed. The rods and cones of the sensory cells degenerate. The disease generally leads to peripheral visual field restriction (tunnel vision). How quickly the disease advances depends on the underlying causes. At present there are no treatment methods which can cure retinitis pigmentosa.

Retinitis pigmentosa – how does HBOT help?

However, an extensive study shows that the progression of the disease can at least decelerated. In this study, patients were treated over the course of 10 years with hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). Two-thirds of the 44 patients treated with HBOT responded well to the therapy. The progression of their disease was able to be decelerated with the help of a total of 255 therapy sessions. The repeated surplus of oxygen through HBOT inhibited the further necrosis of photoreceptors (rods of sensory cells) among these patients. Up to 80 percent of the still existing vision was able to be preserved.

Synopsis: HBOT on retinitis pigmentosa

Objective: The metabolism of photoreceptor cells is enhanced through the high oxygen content. A deceleration of the deterioration of vision ultimately ensues as a result. You remain self-reliant and do not require any external help. You can still read your newspaper at a ripe old age.
Duration: Patients with retinitis pigmentosa can take advantage of HBOT on a one-time basis in terms of an initial treatment or analogous to the study. We advise consistent dependence on the study design in order to achieve the desired therapeutic success with the greatest possible certainty. Duration: 10 years – treatment concept according to Vingolo
